MBA Degree- Boon or Ban?

Dearest gentle reader,

The problem with any college system, especially B-schools is placements. I'm not saying its a bad thing, but to experience that environment where your own roommate might not want you to get selected is crazy. MBA schools foster competition but it gets toxic very quickly. Everyone wants that job, everyone wants money. You couldn't care less if your dear friend was crying in the corner. B schools make students inhuman. There is no care in the world, just them. I do not blame them since I am a part of the same system, and guilty of the same thoughts.

The worst part about this is, when you're not selected or shortlisted, a human tends to get sad, or worse suicidal. This is a fact and has caused people to lose their lives. Immense pressure of being in a B school, and not getting placed has caused people to take their own lives so they don't have to bear the shame of not getting placed. I admit, it is a very easy thought to get. Can't say if it is a common thought but it is very prevalent.

In a business school, you expect students to get knowledge, to know how software, theories and case studies work in real life, but all they know is placements. Most MBA students are rote learners, they will have knowledge only until their placements, after that, they do not know anything. And why should they? They have a package of 25 lakhs so what is there to be worried about? They will learn at the job anyways right?

Human nature of FOMO, and culture of letting our parents down, or ourselves down is the main reason of pressure. And pressure when intensified, can cause some people to pop, some to want to get out of the container.

Students don't join B schools for knowledge, they join for better placements, and a better package.

So is it not important for B schools to make sure the wellbeing of their student is in their hands? They claim of being the best "knowledge" imparters behind placements. You know, I know and they know that all a student is present for is not the piece of paper called Degree, not what they teach, but for the company that comes to the college because of the brand they have marketed for years.

B schools are toxic, and can make you question your decision, your life, and the humans around you.

B schools, maybe let students breathe a little bit?

I understand the real world is tough and blah blah, but come on, fostering a culture like this is not good for anyone. Not even someone who claims that they are mentally strong.

Let students breathe. And let them live. They've got enough on their minds already. What's the point of giving 20 assignments if you can't get them to actually utilize what they are being taught?

Lets not make a place of education a joke. Let them be a place of learning. Maybe then lives and human beings would be better.

Painfully,
